Hello everybody that I know,
This Friday I complete my 28th year of life and turn 28!
To celebrate I’m going to have a bon fire, BBQ, and beer out at my place. Clif Moore has graciously provided a mini keg (5 gallons) of Silver Gulch Coldfoot Pilsner. Feel free to bring whatever you’d like to throw on the grill, your own beverage, gifts ;), or anything else you’d like to bring. I’ll have some bratwurst cooking until its all consumed. Significant others & children are welcome (mine will both be there!), and you may invite anyone you think would like to join.
If you have access to pallets or know where I can get some for burning let me know because I’m not having much success getting any of my own.
Time: It should start a little after 6pm and will probably start winding down around 10
Date: This Friday, March 31st
Place: My cabin (see attached directions, and those below)
Directions (roughly 13 miles from the university):
- Drive out the Parks Highway past Gold Hill Tesoro and past the weigh station
- about a mile or two past the weigh station turn left on Cripple Creek Rd.
- drive a while (roughly four miles) and notice a ‘pavement ends’ sign
- turn right on Rosie Creek Trail (1st right after the ‘pavement ends’ sign)
- There will be a ‘fork’ where your options are a 90 degree left turn or straight ahead, make the 90 degree left
- Come to a T in the road. this is Kallenburg. turn right
- down a hill, up a hill, little squiggly
- Watch for a road to your right named ‘betts bypass’; turn right there. (if you get lost, this betts bypass turn is likely where it will happen, so keep an eagle eye out for the betts bypass sign)
- go about 100 yards
- Make a 90 degree right onto ‘Hulme Ct’
- You can park on the side of Hulme Ct or even up on Betts Bypass
- there’s a big log cabin & detached garage on the right side of hulme ct, then there’s a red cabin on the right after that. If you’re still driving when you get to the red cabin, i suggest you park and begin walking because the ‘driveway’ to my place is good at getting people stuck. My place is a 2 story barn style cabin with OSB siding… look for the bon fire
Hope to see you there!
-Patrick

Thought i’d write a little something before I hit the sack.
My brother, Jim, sent me a page about how much Idaho sucks (where we’re from). It was pretty funny… and offensive. So I had to surf all over the site. Some good stuff there. I have probably spent 10 or more hours of my life reading prose from the site. I’m surprised I hadn’t found it earlier as it’s been around since 1998. Yeesh. The site is named The Best Page in the Universe, and apparently gets a lot of traffic. This character’s sense of humor and basic arrogance reminds me of my good buddy John. I’d say I agree with 98 percent of what the guy has to say. So enjoy or be offended.
Idaho is better than Utah btw.
The cat scratch infection is mostly gone. All that is left is some nagging pain in my wrist. That was one infection that got out of hand! Figuratively, quite the opposite literally.
My hand swoll up like somebody had blown up latex glove and my entire right forearm swoll up. The second night of sleeping with the infection (still before it had gone nuts) I woke up waving my arm around in the air moaning and groaning and whining about how it hurt… sorta weird waking up doing that. Fortunately I had made an appointment to see a doctor the next day. So the day after my ‘Cat Scratch Fever’ post, I was at the doctor, and they were like “Its a good thing you came in.” Got a shot of Rocephin in my right butt cheek and a perscription of Zithromax to take orally.
Then it proceeded to get worse… though the pain subsided just a bit. That may have had to do with the 800mg of Ibuprofen I was taking every 8 hours. The doctor fellow was actually pissed to see that it had gotten worse. He was a physicians assistant (PA), and went to get the doctor on call… after telling me that I was either going to the hospital or getting a couple more shots of Rocephin (one in each butt cheek!). When the doc came in he took a look at it and asked me some questions, then he & the PA proceeded to chat about how much they hated cats. Fortunately for me the verdict was two shots of rocephin. My right butt cheek was still a little sore from the last shot. This time they laid me down on my belly, pointed my feet together pigeon toe like and did the shots simulateously. As far as shots in the butt go, that was pretty nice, no pain at all that time, no muscle spasms, almost like nothing happened.
So I can type now, I can twist the wrist and do all the motion stuff for the most part. Yay. The two shots did their work, and the Zithromax seems to have alleviated the Cellulitis (that is some painful stuff, Cellulitis, which I guess constituted the swelling and redness). I can continue life normally once again.
So last night while I was holding a cat that doesn’t like to be held, this cat went nuts and tore my right hand/wrist to shreds and bit the dickens out of my left thumb. Now I’ve got a big swollen infection on the outside of my right wrist. It hurts like a biotch. I’ll try and post some pics of the damage. Off to Rotaract now.
